Proof Load Testing Of Loose Gears By Betal Engineering Pvt. Ltd.
Proof Load Test Of All Supplied Lifting Gears Are Carried Out At Our 150 Tons Tensile Test Bench
- All the loose gears viz. Shackles, Slings, Polyester Webbing Slings, Lifting Hooks, Shank Hooks etc. supplied with our products are proof load tested at our 150 Ton Horizontal Testing Machine.
- We have our machines installed at our Mumbai as well as Nashik Plant for load test as and when required.
We are approved under the following statutory provisions of :
- Industrial Safety (Factories Act, 1948), Govt of Maharashtra.
- Dock Worker’s (Safety, Health & Welfare) Regulations, 1990, Govt. of India.
Functional Proof Load Testing
We carry out Proof Load Testing of Lifting Beams and other Lifting
Equipments at our Navi Mumbai unit ; this is very important to ascertain the practical load bearing capacity of the beams before taking into actual use.
We are approved under the following statutory provisions of :
- Industrial Safety (Factories Act, 1948), Govt of Maharashtra.
- Dock Worker’s (Safety, Health & Welfare) Regulations, 1990, Govt.
of India.
A Lifting Beam of BHP Billiton Limited, Australia being load Tested by us at 85 Tons using our Special purpose Lifting Frame, shackles, slings and a 300 Ton Capacity Crane.
NOW AVAILABLE IN INDIA! FUNCTIONAL LOAD TEST OF LIFTING BEAMS AT UPTO 200 TON CAPACITY
Normal Procedure For Proof Load Testing Of Lifting Beam
The procedure to carry out the proof load testing of Lifting Beam as per Dock Worker’s (Safety, Health & Welfare) Regulations 1990 & as per “Code for Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment” (LAME) are as follows
Proof Load Calculation
Up to 10 Ton capacity (SWL) ……. 2 X Safe Working Load (SWL)
Above 10 Ton and up to 160 Ton SWL ——– (1.04 X SWL) + 9.6
Steps undertaken
- Lifting Beam & Test Rigging Gears shall be visually examined before proof load test to ensure that they are free from cracks, Nicks, Cuts, Gouges, deformations, excessive wear and other defects. The SWL of test gears shall be verified to be suitable for the proof load. The Datum Points shall be marked on beam & dimensions & straightness of beam shall be recorded.
- Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) shall be carried out on weld Joints.
- Once found satisfactory, Load test shall be carried out by help of (a) Dead Weights equivalent to Proof load as mentioned in the drawing & (b) Suitable capacity Crane to lift the lifting Frame with Test Load attached together by rigging Gear. (Measures are to be taken to ensure that the appliance can be controlled during the test and to avoid injury or damage which might occur in the event of failure under load)
- Weights (Test Load) shall be calibrated before load test by help of calibrated load cell as accurate within +/- 2% and shall be certified
- Hold the test load approx. 1 feet above Ground level for 5 minutes & thereafter release the Load, and place the Lifting Beam on ground for final inspection
- Suitable marking on the beam to be checked for (a) Identification No. (b) Safe Working Load and (c) Date of Test. If not Marking should be made available by paint or by stamping with low stress stamps only
- Visual inspection of Beam and checking for areas of distress or deformation
- Magnetic Particle Inspection (Post MPI) shall be carried out on welding Joints.
- If no defects are identified from the visual and NDT inspection then the Lifting beam shall be certified & test certificate shall be issued.
